BAGUETTE CITY

Baguette city is a short edit from a fleeting visit to Hossegor, France in late October 2024. The clips came from just two 4 hour sessions at Les Culs Nus across two days. The swell was fairly small in relation to the enormous sand bar slabs that Hossegor can conjure up, however, there was no shortage of waves. The first session was a lovely sunny afternoon and very busy in the water with both surfers and boogers. The stand outs in this session were two ladies who were surfing rings around the pack and ripping into some serious sections. The second day was slightly smaller in the water and small group of charged up groms were slicing up and packing some heavy shore dumps.

STYLE

High voltage surfing and soundtrack to create a classic surf grunge edit. Sometimes there is no greatness where there is no simplicity, so we didn't want to go hard on the editing bells and whistles. This matches the surfing style on show, see a section and hammer it.

CRUISE CONTROL

Last winter the Southleft team decided to send it on a Ski season to expand the brands reach beyond the beach and the skate park. We ended up in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada for the 23/24 snow season. This project was a slow burner with days off from kitchen shifts being the only time we had to rip with the crew and get clips. This lead to a variety of conditions and features being seen in the film as sessions were rarely lining up with the weather forecast and good snow. Although missing most of the true pow days to flip burgers, we still managed to get 15 days filming on the hill and a few belting days with soft fresh pow and bluebird skies. In those camera days we got lucky enough to run into some big players outside of the southleft core and colab for a few cruisy laps. It was unreal seeing the pros going through their motions and we truly loved working with them! Lack of days on the hill forced us to get creative in our own back yard after hours creating our own little jib set up from random bits of clobber accompanied by a whole heap of digging. The aim of this film is to showcase the beauty of Lake Louise ski resort as well as our own ski season through our eyes and lens.

STYLE

We believe that not every film produced has the be the heaviest and the gnarliest riding to make a beautiful cinematic piece. Our clips are an expression of the riders having fun on some stylish cruisy laps. We have taken influence from surf cinema to help create an artistic piece through various types of cuts and transitions, highlighting the beauty our surroundings of the Canadian Rockies, in which we lived and skied.
